Week 1 Term 2

Welcome Back!

We have hit the ground running in Term 2. This week was the week of all things volcanoes and friendship.

Volcanoes

As part of reconnecting with each other, the children worked in collaboration to create 3D volcanic art. Below are some photos of the process. Next week the children who are still interested will help label our volcano. We may even try create our own volcano in class. If anyone has very large boxes please send them in on Monday.

Zara asked about how volcanoes are formed. Some children explored tectonic plates and how they effect the formation of our earth.

We made volcanoes erupt with Mary (Finn's Grandmother) and Rachel (Finn's Mother). Thank you for the great experience!
We love looking at what we can learn from non-fiction books!

Rachel (Finn's Mum) taught us how to make volcanic lemon slice! Click here for the Recipe.

Friendship

We will continue to talk about being a good friend in class. Some children have chosen their friendship goals for the next week, others will choose next week.

Making Friendship Chains

Thank you Malabika, for being our Mystery Reader
The children enjoyed the read.

Peter the Bear

The children worked in pairs to solve the problem of how many bandaids Peter needed.

Peter is feeling much better now.

House Keeping

  • By now you would have received permission forms in your child's blue folder about both our walking tours and our Chinatown trip. Please read and return the forms as stated. We need as many parents as possible for our Chinatown trip, please do sign up!
  • You would have also received an email regarding swimming starting next week. Please take note of the following: flip flops, towels, swimwear, a top to stay warm and girls need to tie their hair back. Please no goggles. Please be aware it will just be Ms Sue and myself helping the children to change. The more you can prepare the children to independently change the better.
  • Ms Sue has requested me to write and clarify lunch expectations. Ms Sue encourages children to eat roughly half their lunch however, she will not force feed any child who has eaten and is full. Please do understand she does her best to encourage your children during lunchtimes. If your child has sometimes not eaten all of their lunch this may be due to eating cooking done in school or extra treats earlier in the day from birthdays.
  • This week we've had a few late notices about transportation changes. If your child is going home with someone else please write this in your child's pink message book on the day it will happen. If there is a change while at school please inform the Infant Office, as I don't always get a chance to check my emails due to teaching commitments.
Have a great weekend all.
