Week 8

8/10/2015
Today some children have chosen to take their pink Investigation Journals home to show you. Please do not add to these Journals, they are used as a reflective tool for your child to record what they have done during Discovery Time. We would appreciate if you could return them in their blue folders tomorrow or on the first day back from your holiday.

We made pizza today! Very popular choice. We have decided we'd like to know how to make banana bread. If anyone knows a good recipe please email me.

As we reach the last days of school before the break we have noticed many very tired children. When children are tired they may express their frustrations physically rather than through their expressive language. Today I shared this video with them, feel free to watch it again with your child at home.

Our amazing P.E teacher made a video of your children in P.E. Enjoy.

Today the children went on a shape hunt at school. They explored their environment to find rectangles for their first shape poster.

Today Infant School celebrated UWC day by inviting delegates from the Round Square Conference into our class for a day. Here are some photos from the day.

This week we introduced the children to Kandinsky inspired art. There have been some very creative art pieces made today that have gone into some Learning Journals.

As a whole class we explored what we already knew about sorting and classifying shapes. Below are the results of our shape sort.

Conversations about 2D and 3D shapes arose during our sorting experience. At lunch Kaia noticed her Thermos was the shape of a Cylinder!

We have also opened our class Pizza Shop. After some conversation and a vote we decided we needed...
6 chefs, 6 customers, 1 bill payer and 1 waiter

Tomorrow we will try having three chefs in our kitchen.

In Mandarin, the children did a role play of the rabbits and the wolf.

Thank you to the parents who have already sent in objects of different shapes to add to our class shape posters later in the week.

Thank you to the parents who have informed the Infant Office and myself they are leaving early for the mid term break. If you too are getting away from our hazy city early, please let me know.
